Joomla migration – safely from any version to the current release
Your Joomla site is still on version 3 or 4—or you want to make sure Joomla 5 stays technically clean and up to date?
We plan and deliver your migration in a structured way: technical pre-check, backup, clean execution and clear feedback. Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 are end-of-life—no official security patch support any more. The longer you wait, the more complex the migration becomes.
If you want, we take your site straight into ongoing care after the migration—so the next major version jump does not become another large project.
- a named contact throughout
- technical pre-check before any change
- backup and safeguards before every intervention
- clear feedback on effort, risks and next steps
- optional handover into ongoing care
Next steps
Joomla 3
EOLJoomla 3 has been discontinued for years and no longer receives security updates. We migrate to the current Joomla version with a clear plan, technical pre-check and safeguards.
Joomla 4
EOLJoomla 4 has reached end-of-life (EOL)—the project no longer ships security updates. We review extensions, template and PHP and deliver the upgrade to the current version in a structured way.
Joomla 5
CurrentAlready on Joomla 5? We keep your site current and prepare the move to Joomla 6 when it makes technical and economic sense. In the right care package, that major upgrade step is already included.
4-step process
How the migration works in 4 steps
The flow is deliberately simple: request, analysis, proposal and implementation.
-
Request
Share your domain, baseline and key facts—no effort required on your side.
-
Free analysis
We review the technical baseline and determine whether this is a standard case or needs extended scope.
-
Proposal and approval
You get a clear view of effort, approach and the most sensible next step—transparent and without hidden costs.
-
Implementation and feedback
We secure the site, run the migration and report back with results and recommendations.
If you want, ongoing care follows directly—so updates do not pile up again.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a typical Joomla migration take?
It depends on scope, extensions and template. After the free analysis you get a realistic estimate—a standard migration usually takes a few days.
Can I stay on the same server with Joomla 3?
Often PHP and server requirements increase. We tell you upfront what is needed so there are no surprises.
Is Joomla 4 still safe if I do not want to upgrade yet?
No—Joomla 4 is EOL. Without official security updates from the project, risk increases over time. Upgrading to the current release is the sound approach; we work with you on the right path.
What happens to my template after the migration?
It depends on the template. We check compatibility upfront and tell you honestly what is technically possible and sensible.
Will all my extensions (plugins/components) be carried over?
We check every extension for compatibility with the target version. Incompatible ones are flagged separately in the proposal so you can make an informed decision.
What does a Joomla migration cost?
It depends heavily on your baseline, template and extensions. After the free analysis we make you a transparent fixed-price proposal.
Is there ongoing care after the migration?
Yes. Many clients move straight into Manage Joomla Care or Care Pro after the migration. The site stays current and upgrade-ready—and the next major version jump is no longer a big project.
